While not a company or social event, many Glovers were to be found at the Guildhall at this years Sheriff's Ball which took place on September 18th. The charity event was hosted by the two outgoing Sheriffs Alderman Robert Hughes-Penney and Deputy Keith Bottomley and their partners. The theme on this 10th Anniversary was 'Brazilian Beach Ball' - and did it live up to it!
Greeted on arrival by dancers in traditional Brazilian carnival costume, the guests were equally attired to match the theme, with the men wearing black tie with splashes of colour (and occasionally even more outrageous accessories). The ladies sported flowers, feathers and even a multi coloured LED lit cape - and of course Glovers wore gloves!
The object was to raise £100k by the event and it seemed to be well on target by the close of the silent auction.
The Guildhall took on a new persona with spectacular lighting and table decorations and of course the amazing Brazilian dancers - of which Master and Mistress Glover - and other Glovers - were spotted emulating on the dance floor.
Gog and Magog keeping an eye on the proceedings were certainly agog that evening!
