Friday July 17th dawned hot and bright with temperatures reaching a stunning 28C. Significantly different to the original day of the Lady Mayor’s Ride Out - June 11th - which had to be cancelled due to torrential downpours. And people wonder why the Brits talk about the weather.
This initiative by the Lady Mayor Alderwoman Dame Susan Langley DBE to ‘Unsquare the Square Mile’ and raise funds for https://www.thelordmayorsappeal.org/ saw 150 motorcyclists coming together for the Inaugural Ride Out which started from the iconic St Paul’s Cathedral and under the escort of the City of London Police to Cherry Orchard Farm, Essex for a celebratory barbecue reception where the riders were amply refreshed.
Glovers are great participants and rise to the challenge so our very own biker, Liveryman Julian Lidstone did the honours on behalf the Glovers as did my cousin Terry Carron and friends from the Midlands.
Certainly Julian reported back a terrific day had by all - and we Glovers felt ourselves well represented in this new event.
