The Worshipful Company of Glovers are very happy to be supporting one of our own Liverymen, Minnie Harris, on a fundraising event which is kicking off today.
Minnie is raising money for Project Limitless by doing a swim “across” the English Channel in her local pool – she will be swimming 22 miles in 22 days. Starting today, May 1st, Minnie will swim 64 lengths of a 25 metre pool every morning, diving in at virtual Dover and eventually “crawling ashore” at virtual Calais.
Minnie shared some thoughts yesterday ahead of her big challenge:
‘I was so inspired when I heard about Project Limitless, and it appears that I was not alone! My Virtual Cross Channel Swim starts tomorrow, and thanks to the amazing generosity of friends, family and my Livery company, The Worshipful Company of Glovers, 96% of my target of £5000 has already been reached.
‘I am so grateful for all the sponsorship, and I am looking forward with excitement to the day when the children receive the Koalaa Sleeves we have come together to give them.
‘To reach my target (almost!) so quickly has shown me how much support there is out there for these children with upper limb difference. It would be amazing if even more children than I hoped are able to benefit from the challenge, so do please spread the Project Limitless word!
‘As I take the plunge tomorrow, I will be buoyed up by the support and good wishes I have received, and the knowledge that we are truly transforming lives – and what a privilege that is.’
