Master Glover Alastair Collett, accompanied by Mistress Glover Tiana, 1st Under Warden Jonathan Grosvenor, 2nd Under Warden Steve Marsh and 3rd Under Warden Felicity Chadwick-Histed, led the Senior Liveries Float in the Lord Mayor’s Show held on 9th November 2024.
The Show is the longest, unrehearsed and televised event in the world. This year the Show celebrated the inaugural day of Alastair King, DL as 696th Lord Mayor of the City of London. The Lord Mayor is a proud Scot, so the Show was led by the Royal Regiment of Scotland.
Our own Master, son of Sir Christopher Collett (Lord Mayor of the City of London 1988-89) led the Senior Liveries Float in the parade. Coordinated by 2nd Under Warden Steve Marsh, 30 of the more ancient(!) Liveries participated in the Float – from Goldsmiths to Playing Card Makers. Alison Marsh and Lt Col Chris Histed provided the ballast for the Float’s balloon at the rear!
With no rain on the parade, Londoners and tourists thronged the streets to watch, making it a superb day out for all.
